Palestinian sources in Hebron city, in the southern part of the West Bank, reported on Tuesday evening that Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian child carrying a toy gun, in Wad Al Tuffah area, in Hebron.

The child was identified as Ahmad Skafy, 15; he was shot by several rounds of live ammunition.
An Israeli military source reported that soldiers fired at two Palestinians carrying what appeared to be M-16 rifles and found out later that they were toys.

The soldiers fired several rounds at Skafy who was hit by at least four live rounds.

An Israeli military source claimed that the incident would be probed, and denied Palestinian reports which stated the military dogs mauled the body of the child.

Yet, medical sources in Hebron stated that the right hand of the child had marks of dog bites.

The soldiers who fired at the child claimed that the toy rifle which is very similar to real guns.
Israeli online daily, Haaretz, reported that an Israeli military spokesperson stated last night that the soldiers received photographs comparing toy guns with real M-16 rifles.

On Monday, November 20, 2006, soldiers shot and killed the 17-year-old Rakan al-Nusairat near Jericho checkpoint. The child was carrying a plastic gun.

Another similar incident took place on January 2006 when two thirteen-year old children carrying toys guns were killed by the army, and another child was killed in 2005 in similar circumstances.
