Israel Compared to Nazi Germany, as Zionists Panic

"Press Releases:

"AJC Outraged by British Transport Union Boycott of Israel"

Full press release is on the Web at:

"July 4, 2007 - New York - The America Jewish Committee condemns the decision of Britain's Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU) to support a motion at its annual conference calling for the boycott of Israeli goods.

" 'The boycott campaign is clearly spreading like a virus through the British trade union movement,' said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. 'The TGWU's disgraceful decision echoes recent votes by unions representing journalists, academics and workers in the public and voluntary sectors to single out Israel among all the nations on the globe, to demonize it and to target it for boycott.'

"Eric McDonald, secretary of the Birmingham branch which proposed the boycott motion, has compared Israel to Nazi Germany.

" 'This comparison is a despicable expression of anti-Semitism,' said Harris, citing the 'Working Definition of anti-Semitism' first adopted by the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia, and now endorsed by various European bodies, including a UK parliamentary inquiry into anti-Semitism.

" 'Whereas traditional anti-Semitism stigmatized and isolated the individual Jew, these recent boycott votes are attempts to stigmatize and isolate the Jewish state,' said Harris..."
