400 U.K. academics protest Israeli universities, for working in the service of the Israeli military.

The Israel Day of Science will publicise the work of seven universities that pro-Palestinian groups claims are complicit in attacks on civilians in Gaza.


More than 400 academics including 40 professors and a Nobel laureate have called on the museum to cancel the event, which is being organised by the Zionist Federation of Great Britain.


Protesters claim that research conducted by Israeli universities is used by the country's military, and hundreds of people are expected attend a demonstration at the museum in Kensington, south west London on Wednesday.


Academia has become a focus of anti-Israel protests in recent years. In 2007 members of the University and College Union (UCU) voted to sever links with Israeli universities in a move which provoked outrage around the world, and was condemned as an assault on academic freedom by Jewish groups....
