The audience threw shoes to an Israeli military spokesman during his talk in Amsterdam on Sunday evening.
Ron Edelheit, was a spokesman for the Israeli army during its recent offensive in the Gaza Strip, was pelted with shoes during the talk in a hotel.
Three people, two men and a woman in their twenties, are being detained on suspect of "assault".
The Netherlands Palestine Committee protested Edelheits visit because during his tenure as spokesperson for the Israeli army, "Israeli destruction, murder and degeneracy was smoothed over verbally.
" A spokesperson for the Committee said that they knew nothing of the threats against Edelheit, "We are strictly against such activity."
Outside the hotel, around fifty others protested against Mr Edelheit's visit, in what police said was a peaceful manner.
Israel launched on Dec. 27 a massive offensive in Gaza, killing more than 1300 Palestinians, a third of them children, and wounded at least 5300.
Israel have been under fire over white phosphorus, other banned weapons, and civilian killings, including hundreds of children, since its assault on Gaza.
